Breaking News: Cause of Death Revealed for Plus-Size Model Mia Amber Davis

According to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office, beautiful plus-size model, Mia Amber Davis, died from a blood clot in her lungs. An amended death certificate was released by L.A.County after an autopsy and toxicology test were performed—turns out the former Editor-at-Large of Plus Size Model magazine suffered a “pulmonary thrombo-embolism,” a blockage in the main artery of the lungs. Davis’s tragic May 10th death left family, friends and fans in shock.  The Road Trip actress passed away during routine knee surgery, which Davis’s husband, Michael Yard, believes caused the blood clot that ultimately killed his wife.

Mia Amber Davis is celebrated for her work with Ashley Stewart, Plus Size Model magazine and Jill Scott’s Butterfly Bra.

This is truly sad, I hope that this will cause for more discussion on what and why pulmonary thrombo-embolism are truly a epedemic. Like a step in a long stair way, we are seeing the connections, from this. I also think that this also has a connection to Lupus, and being over weight as whole.
For example, why is it that, when a person suffers a blod clot, the body tends to start to downward sprial. Think about it, Serina Williams, was side lined, from cutting her foot, the surgery was needed, and then a blood clott was discovered, of all places her lungs as well. Granted, she was in shape, however you have wonder if this is a by product of the medicines we are taking to to fix the ailment, or if there is a genetic connection, the medical feild has yet to disclose. In the end, it is still a sad lost, no matter how you wish to view it.

cdmixers I couldnt have said it better myself. Maybe it isnt the overweight causing the issues but the issues contributing to the overweight. A lot of medications we take have side effects worse then the reason we take them! Take a second and read up on these issues and youll be more aware of just why we have such a poor health take overall.

Very sad. Mia Ambers was a beautiful woman regardless of her size. DVT's are clots in the legs that may occur if there is a hypercoagulable state (the blood is "thicker" ) or if a situation of venous stasis occurs. In her case, her state of immobility after the surgery probably contributed to her developing a DVT. All venous blood returns to the heart to go through the lungs and get oxygenated. If a clot occurs in your legs, it can migrate up to the right heart and into the lungs. I wonder if she was given any blood thinners post operatively to prevent against this. Even with blood thinners, this can still occur.

Well put MIAAMBERSFAN! People should also be aware of the amount of time they spend sitting at the computer as well. I was diagnosed with a clot in my leg in 2010. If it was not for my daughter reading a story about DVT'S and demanding I go see the doc (she made me go to the ER)…I would not be here today. Hey i'm a nurse! and denied that I could have a clot. I had to see it on imaging! I'm overweight, but active but then I spend an inordinate amount of time sitting while working.

I had knee surgery and the same issue was happening with me. I could feel a small ball like mass moving up from my leg to my groin up to my stomach area. I caught it in time and rushed to a hospital. I spent 4 hours in a compression chamber and survived. RIP Mia Ambers.

Hello, Serena Williams just recovered from the same type of blood clot. So, it has nothing to do with weight,

    • KKD

Weight is a contributing factor, so please lay off the denial.

  • Carla Thomas

Weight is definitely a contributing factor.

Sad i wonder why did it go undeted ( pulmonary thromb embolism ) until her death is this something just happens or is there signs or symptons before it cause death .. Doesnt matter how sad ..RIP

  • ilost150lbs

hold up..serena williams is overweight..she's just muscular and athletic…but, she is overweight…and it depends on how heavy..there is something to be said about BMI and the weight charts…also where your weight is distributed and you other ailments..the best thing is to stay within a healthy weight range and to make sure you follow up with your drs and specialists if you have an additional ailment……

  • on my stuff

weight is not a factor when dealing with thrombo-embolism, it's target is not per weight it has alot to do with the blood circulating in the correct manner , per pharmacist tech

This is terrible. Shortly after I learned of her passing my uncle passed away due to similar circumstances. He broke his leg and two weeks later died from an embolism. It is a terrible and totally unexpected situation and my deepest sympathy to her family… I understand the unexpectedness and the questions and confusion they are feeling.
