Sparkling brassieres, sultry tiger dresses and flowing, fluffy wings rocked the runway as this year’s Angels took the stage for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, that aired last night. After much controversy over of the lack of models of color in this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, we were excited to see a few new and familiar models of color walking the runway. Black British fashion model Jourdan Dunn was upgraded to Angel status this year, finally receiving her wings. She joins a list of other Victoria’s Secret Angels of color including, MTV’s House of Style‘s Joan Smalls, Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, Selita Ebanks and others who have added a sprinkle of diversity to the fashion industry.

I think we should remember ‘Women of Color’ does not mean exclusively ‘African American;’ there are other women of color who have rocked the Victoria’s Secret runway including Korean model Jarah Mariano, Chinese models Liu Wen and Sui He. I think this show is one of the most entertaining fashion shows of the year, and try to watch it every year. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to watch the entire show when it aired because I had to go into work DISH. I’m really bad with setting weekly timers, but I have PrimeTime Anytime with my
DISH Hopper so I never have to worry about setting weekly timers since it is set to automatically record shows from the big four networks, and there is enough DVR room to record my other favorite shows that air the same night. I can’t wait to check this show out, and I’m sure the fashions and all the girls were amazing.
