Things we love about winter: winter boots, fur coats, cute accessories. Things we do NOT love about winter: super dry skin so irritating it makes us want to sleep in a hyperbolic chamber filled with Vaseline. Blah. Dry, cold weather associated with this season, mixed with the use of artificial heat from indoors often leaves us with alligator skin.
Thankfully though there is relief and we’re sharing our favorites with you.
This super thick and creamy moisturizer is formulated with colloidal oatmeal, shea butter, soothing eucalyptus oil and ceramides to help moisturize and soothe dry skin. It also contains antioxidants to help fight free radicals which aids in the prevention of aging. It’s great for anyone with severely dry, scaly skin from the harsh winter weather, aggressive cosmetic treatments, or any of the following conditions: atopic dermatitis, irritant eczema, allergic eczema and keratosis pilaris. We reach for it the most for our hands, chest, and legs.
Though it’s not a moisturizer in the typical way we think of creams, this “Australian Elizabeth Arden 8-Hour Cream” helps to relieve dry patches, rashes, and other skin irritations often experienced in the winter without the medicine-like smell or greasiness. Though it’s an Australian product, you can get it in the U.S. at NYC’s New London Pharmacy.
This rich cream has been helping those with severely dry skin find relief for decades. It’s best applied after a shower on damp skin so you can seal in some of the moisture. We love that it’s fragrance free and free of dyes so it won’t clog pores. With repeat use, you’ll notice more radiant, healthier looking skin.
