We’ve been tackling the Pre-Fall runways bit by bit, but we’re not complaining. The collections have a been a real treat this year, like Erdem. Designer Erdem Moralioglu described his Pre-Fall 2013 collection as his “laboratory” where he can “experiment,” he told Vogue. The end result? A line of ladylike pieces bursting with bright colors and playful prints set against clean lines and silhouettes. Mod style dresses and separates featured lace overlays, busy florals combined with part-plaid part-houndstooth patterns, and textures like tulle, leather and plastic. The hodgepodge of design details created an ethereal fantasy that landed somewhere right between The Secret Garden and Factory Girl. We’d call this Erdem experiment a success. Where do we sign up for lab tests?
