SB: Tell us about your 2013 fitness calendar.
QP: "The majority of my fan base is women. I acknowledge that and I make it where there’s good eye candy for the ladies. I make sure to include great nutritional tips and easy to follow guides that you can do at home, and really just putting out there that everybody doesn’t have a luxury of going to a L.A. Fitness or Crunch and the high quality workout facilities. If somebody put up a Q Parker fitness calendar and could be motivated to become active, then I’ve done my good deed."
SB: Can you share your fitness routine for those adopting a healthy lifestyle in 2013?
QP: "The keyword you just used was lifestyle. It has to become a part of your life, and part of your daily regimen. I work out five days a week, I do about an hour and a half, hour and 45 minutes a day. And I eat five, six times a day. I get my necessary carbs in two meals, and for my remaining four meals I make sure there’s a protein source, two vegetable sources, and I drink at least ½ gallon to ¾ gallon of water daily. The beauty about the eating part is that you can switch it up. We don’t do any fried food, we don’t do any soda. We do limited sugars and everything is grilled, pan-seared or broiled. And sometimes people say, how do you eat six times a day? Well if you feed your body the necessary elements and the necessary portions, your body will speak to you. So that’s how you’re able to eat five, six times a day. Like they say, you are what you eat. We learned that in elementary school. You are what you eat, from your head to your toes."
Trying to eat healthy but your family and friends aren't on board? You can do this!
SB: What's your advice for those trying to embark on a new lifestyle, but their family and friends aren't eating healthy?
QP: "Eating healthy around family members who aren’t eating healthy. What’s your advice and the people around them aren’t eating so healthy.
I’m from Atlanta, GA and my mom used to say to me, well a little pork never hurt you, when you were growing up. And my family pretty much, they still rag on me and they say I eat grass sandwiches. But at the end of the day, when I look at the fitness calendar, they are all admiring the results. I even have my mom, walk[ing]every day. My dad walks every day. My sisters, my brothers are clients of mine, I train them. So I think once you get past the stereotypes and the initial hesitation, it becomes cruise control. But you just have to transform the way of thinking. And I think the best way to transform a person’s way of thinking is for them to see results. And I tell them, try my way and try it with me for three weeks. If you don’t like it, go back to whatever you’ve been doing. But I promise you in three weeks, you’re going to see your waistline getting smaller, you’re going to feel your stamina, you’re going to be more energetic, and you’re just going to feel a lot better in three weeks if you just kind of ride it out with me. And from that point on, they’re hooked."
Q shares why you're beautiful in your own skin!
SB: So many women have images of what fit looks like, and thinks the Kim Kardashian body is what men love. But what do guys find attractive in a woman?
QP: "For me, personally I think beauty comes in a lot shapes and sizes, in all. It starts with confidence. You could be a size 2 and confident, but you could also be plus size with confidence, and wear it well, and access your assets well. And just know that within it’s something more than what’s visible to the eye. Now mind you, we don’t want anybody to be “overweight,” and overweight relates to your height and the common size and weight for your particular age and all those things. But for me, it just comes in all shapes and sizes. I can find a lady that’s a size 4 attractive and beautiful and s*xy. But I can also find a woman that’s plus size, that’s just as beautiful, just as s*xy, just as confident. So it’s really about just feeling good about yourself. And it’s you defining yourself, not allowing somebody else to define what your idea of s*xy should be. And I think I speak for a lot of men, when I say just be confident with who you are. Everybody’s not going to have the Kim Kardashian shape. Let’s be realistic, everybody’s not going to have that. But whatever your size is, take control of your life, take control of your health and your wellness, and make it a part of your lifestyle, and just be confident in who you are."
SB: What's the most important lesson that you want women to learn from your health mission?
QP: "My mission here is to cater the ladies. Give you some goodness for your ears, give you something nice to look at. But also, I want you to know that I’m in your corner, and I need for my ladies out there, I need for you guys to be healthy. You guys are so important in our world. You’re our mothers, you’re our future leaders, you’re our wives. You’re the glue to the families, and we need you guys to be around for a long time. And one way of you being around as long as you can is to take control of your health and your fitness. Don’t just say, well, I’m this age and I’m this and I’m this, so it is what it is. Nah, let’s take control of this people. I love ya’ll so much and I need ya’ll to be around."
