Let's face facts; sometimes our desire to catch a flick or a weekly TV show hinges on one very basic factor: Beauty. That hot actor that makes us take the Lord's name in vain and thank him for creating such a fine specimen as a man. Careers are built on it! Tickets are sold on it! It might be wrong but it feels so very right. As 2013 gets underway we look forward to a myriad of movies and TV shows featuring hunky actors we just wouldn't mind seeing more of. He played the always cool Han in Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift (and subsequent Fast and Furious films), the sensitive Bruce Lee wannabe in the comedy Finishing the Game: The Search for the Next Bruce Lee, and a tough FBI Agent in Live Free, Die Hard. Now, Sung is set to appear in his biggest film role to date, a cop opposite Sylvester Stallone in Bullet to the Head (based on a graphic novel) due out in early February 2013. You'll also see him reprise his role as Han in the 6th installment of The Fast and the Furious. Kang, born and raised in Gainesville, Georgia, is perhaps the closest Asian actor to being poised for a major Hollywood movie career that doesn't include martial arts. The attractive 40-year old actor is extremely down-to-earth, unabashedly goofy, often interacts with his fans on his official Facebook and Twitter page, and loves his R&B and Hip-hop music. For all that, we just adore him!
We set our sights on Lance Gross when he made his film debut in Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns in 2008. The dark mocha hunk is a self-professed relationship guy currently living the single life as he focuses on his blossoming acting career which has led him to yet another Tyler Perry movie, Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor, also starring Jurnee Smollet (Eve’s Bayou),Vanessa Williams, Brandy, and Kim Kardashian. The film opens March 29, 2013 but viewers don’t have to wait a whole 2 months to see him. They can catch Lance on House of Payne reruns airing on TBS.
Momoa mia! We first noticed the 6 foot 5 Hawaiian/Native American/German/Irish actor in Johnson’s Family Vacation when a speechless Solange couldn’t take her eyes off of him. This striking man beauty was previously best known for being in a long-term relationship with Lisa Bonet, (with whom he has two children) but now Momoa is getting a bit of his own recognition as Khal Drogo in the HBO medieval fantasy television series Game of Thrones and the newest Conan the Barbarian. If you’re a fan of The Game you might have also caught his stint on the show in 2009. This year, Momoa stars in the action film Bullet to the Head, coming to theatres in February and has 2 other films (Wolves and Road to Paloma) due out this year.
Finding out that Jesse Williams had not received a nickname for his Grey's Anatomy character, Dr. Jackson Avery, Ellen DeGeneres dubbed him "McJustreallyreallyhot." Not quite as catchy as "McSteamy," but ask fans of the show and they will tell you it is just as fitting. In 2013, Jesse can be seen in two films. The larger of the two is The Butler, which features an all-star cast that includes Cuba Gooding, Jr., John Cusack, Forrest Whitaker, Robin Williams, and Terrance Howard. Jesse made his acting debut in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 in 2008, but prior to that the Chicago-born, sometime blue-sometimes green-eyed hottie was a high school teacher in Philadelphia! The girls in his class probably had perfect attendance.
Hemsworth as Thor is undeniably perfect. The super hot Australian actor, who recently starred in the remake of Red Dawn, is married to Fast Five beauty Elsa Pataky but that doesn’t mean we can’t watch him in Thor: The Dark World and Rush coming out this year and admire his hotness.
Say what you will about Kitsch’s movies Battleship and John Carter, but there’s just something about this rugged Canadian that’s got our eyes wide open. Kitsch had a big year in 2012 that was unfortunately riddled with box office disappointments and undue criticism of him as actor, but one need look no further than the well-received Oliver Stone flick Savages, the acclaimed indie film The Bang Bang Club (based on the true story of South African combat photographers during 90's apartheid), or the indie film Gospel Hill starring Angela Bassett to see how capable an actor he is. Taylor is set to star in the upcoming film Lone Survivor--also based on a true story--alongside Mark Wahlberg, with yet another opportunity to prove to us his chops and his inexplicable hotness.
Many people probably don’t remember Brian as the jerky, womanizing jock on MTV’s short-lived series Spyder Games, but we do! The wide-eyed actor has come a long way since then. White has starred in multiple film like Stomp the Yard, I Can Do Bad All By Myself, and more recently Good Deeds and The Cabin in the Woods. The former NFL player doesn't have any films out in 2013 but he has a role on the new CW series Beauty and the Beast.
If there is one White actor in the business who’s got swag, it's Ryan Gosling. The Drive actor has a certain cool, debonair je ne sais quoi that makes him the perfect cross between gentleman, rockstar, and hitman. Ryan is so interesting onscreen it’s hard not to love him in every film he does, and we expect his latest film Gangster Squad to deliver the same dramatic excitement that we’re used to getting from him. After all, he’s playing a Gangster. With his brand of cool, it’s a role he was born for.
There’s just something about Columbus. He has a certain attractive swag that goes beyond his good looks. This talented actor and choreographer, even has some vocal ability. He doesn't have an extensive acting career but currently he's playing on the hit TV show Scandal. And for those wondering, he never did have a fling with Britney Spears. Columbus tells News Blaze.com that those scandalous photos of them “kissing” were taken after dance rehearsal as he was giving her a hug like the other dancers. He also admits that his marriage was already over before that whole whirlwind of tabloid crazy.
Bin Bons, as he’s known to his fans, first caught our attention as Narnia’s Prince Caspian with his devilish good looks and his Spanish accent. Turned out the accent was a put-on, and Barnes is actually British but his looks were authentic. Ben’s allure is in his almost unnaturally dark eyes, giving him a captivating otherworldly look that has been described as shark-like, extra-terrestrial, and even "demonic". You have the opportunity to gaze into those eyes this year with his comedy The Big Wedding featuring an ensemble cast (Robert De Niro, Katherine Heigl, Amanda Seyfreid, Susan Sarrandon) and the dark fantasy Seventh Son.
Who doesn't love Idris Elba? Women want him. Men want to hang out with him. He’s like that cool, suave, level-headed bud who’s swagger would make you cooler just by association. And his English accent just takes it to another level for women. This masculine man candy has two movies out in 2013: the black western They Die By Dawn and the Sci-fi flick Pacific Rim directed by Guillermo Del Toro.
Dwayne may just be the hardest working man in showbiz right now. The super ripped star easily wins the award for the most movies coming out in a single year for 2013. Johnson has 5 films opening this year: Fast and Furious 6, GI Joe Retaliation, Snitch, Empire State, and Pain & Gain. All but one of which was filmed in 2012. In the midst of all that somehow he still finds time to wrestle. For those living under a rock, THE ROCK returned to the WWE on February 14, 2011. He even gets up every morning at 4am to workout. It’s a wonder he finds time to sleep.
The handsome Black and Latino actor landed the male lead opposite Meagan Good in NBC’s new murder mystery drama Deception which premiered on Jan. 7, 2013 . He also has a dance movie due out this year called Battle of the Year: The Dream starring Josh Peck and Chris Brown, but what we like most about Laz is that he wears many hats. In addition to acting, he writes and produces. Gotta love a man with great ambitions!
Hunnam played the gruff Motorcycle gang president Jax Teller on FX's Sons of Anarchy for four years. Now that the show is over it frees up a lot of time for him to focus on his movie career. The 32 year-old British actor had previously starred in Cold Mountain and Abandon. His first film since his TV show ended last year: Pacific Rim also starring Idria Elba.
This list just wouldn't be complete without Zac Efron. He's just such a cutie pie, and despite his life-changing success as Troy in the High School Musical franchise, he really hasn't been shoved down our throats like one might have expected. Zac has been working steadily as he transitions into more adult roles. The adventure-loving actor has five films in the works, three of which are comedies, but it's too early to know release dates. In the meantime, fans of the blue-eyed cutie can watch him in his latest two dramas The Paperboy and At Any Price.
So Styleblazers, did any of your favorites make our list? Who are you excited to see in 2013?
