Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet fused romance with rock-n-roll and set the union in the 1900s. Models—done up with braided crowns and crimson lips—rocked rich layers of lace, brocade, metallic denim, fur and leather in robust reds, golds, and blues befitting of the age’s notorious aristocratic opulence. But the modern-day street style influences, that Bendet reports largely inspired the collection, roughed out those otherwise refined edges to create a reb’l fluer out of Alice + Olivia’s fall 2013 girl. Some of our favorite pieces were the lace and beaded midi dresses that featured feather peplum waists and bare backs; floor-length floral circle skirt; and sequined suit—we’re complete lushes. We can already see fashion show-goers mixing these separates into their wardrobes come fall.
