Erdem Moralioglu’s fall 2013 collection is a first for the brand. Though the usual floral, lace, and overall femininity remains, the designer took a different approach by trading in his usual use of bright colors for black. We reported minimalism would be a huge trend this year, and many designers have been proving us right with collections that are simple, yet divine. Although Erdem toned down his use of color, his aesthetic remained. The designer played on texture as he mixed patent, tweed, tulle, ostrich feathers, satin, chiffon and lace to produce frocks, skirts and coats. Some materials were used to make one piece, while others stood alone to create a masterpiece like black velvet roses stitched onto a black lace dress or a sheer chiffon panel worn over a cocoon of white ostrich feathers. Erdem’s walk on the dark side, might not be bad after all. We can only hope he continue to take risks to create delicately detailed collections.
Take a look at the dark beauty below, and let us know if you see the light.
