It’s no surprise that Christopher Bailey filled Burberry‘s fall 2013 collection with belted trench coats and sweater tops stuffed in pencil skirts, but there was a bit of a shock that the repeated use of hearts filled the collection. While the print worked well for some pieces such as a pair of panties beaming under a sheer latex skirt, it did not work for others such as the tan ombré trench coat filled with black hearts. But throwing hearts on a few garments wasn’t the only mistake Bailey made while designing this collection. The use of hardware on garments was also a bit off. Coats, tops and skirts filled with metal holes weren’t our favorite, but the random metal heart-shaped epaulets on a couple of dresses was hand down the least attractive. Though the list of disappointments may seem like Bailey’s fall 2013 collection was a fail, it was not as he came back for the win by living up the pre-fall trend of animal printed coats in leopard, giraffe and cow. His use of sheer latex on trenches, dresses, skirts and tops also saved the collection from its averageness.
Take a look at the expected, yet wild collection below and let us know if you’re feeling the love.
