Once again, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana took us back to their home country of Italy, but this time the inspiration spiraled from Sicily’s Cathedral of Monreale. Byzantine and Venetian mosaics prints, red and black lace, tweed separates, and elaborately embellished jeweled fabrics all made the Dolce & Gabbana fall 2013 collection rich. Looks were accessorized with rosary necklaces and matching earrings, and gold crowns lent religious and royal elements. The designers continued their use of bloomers, lace top, bralettes and tunic dresses. Last season, the designer’s spring 2013 collection caused controversy with its minstrel looking earrings. Let’s see if critics knock down the religious garments, or praise them with “amens” and clapped hands.

Take a look at the catholic-inspired collection below and let us know if you’re feeling Dolce & Gabbana’s fashion contribution to the church.
