Solange Knowles has let it be known to the free world that she’s more than just a singer. The 26-year-old has dipped her hand in DJing, styling and modeling, and now she’s expanded her talents to Studio Africa.
Formed from the 25-piece African-made Diesel+Edun denim collection, Studio Africa is a campaign to bring awareness to arts overall.
By using the talents of writers, musicians, photographers and more, the denim collection will be highlighted on OkayAfrica.com. According to Roc Nation, Solange will support the project’s commitment to promoting and celebrating African creativity throughout 2013. The singer started off by performing for the campaign at the Boiler Room in Paris on Sunday– and more shows are expected in Tokyo, London, Berlin and Los Angeles.
“My love for African fashion, music and art runs deep to my core and has been a significant source of inspiration to me as an artist,” Solange noted. “I’m constantly being exposed to such innovative African talent so I’m excited that Diesel+Edun is celebrating that extraordinary creativity through Studio Africa and taking me along for the journey!”
