Knock It Off: Isabel Marant Isn’t Pleased With Sneaker Wedge Copy Cats

Imitation is the biggest form of flattery, right? Well, Isabel Marant is over it. The fashion designer recently sat down with the Telegraph to talk about her brand and the international success that has come with it, the good and bad. One of the repercussions of her wildly popular sneaker wedge, is that other brands have now copied her style.

Isabel is not happy with the knockoffs: “Everybody who has the wrong one looks quite b–chy, very vulgar, when mine are not at all,” she explained.

The sneaker wedge has become a cult classic, especially for celebs.

Although the celebs rock Isabel’s $725 original, many are rocking cheaper styles.

Those sneakers are hideous. I’ve seen some knock offs and they actually look better than the original.

Who the hell is going to pay 750…thats 3 months of car notes. For those who cant afford the 750 why cant others make cheaper ones? She shouldnt be mad. Lower your damn prices.

  • Rashida

I am not paying 700 for a pair of shoes! I enjoy the knockoffs just fine! Not going to go there at all! I got some for 30.00 and they are just up my alley.

you forgot ALDO, theirs are actually quite nice

Aldo version is way better than Marant’s version.

“Quite b*tchy, very vulgar” – does she even understand what those words mean? Because that’s what she is being, and it doesn’t even make sense to apply that to what she’s trying to say, she sounds like a pure jealous, hating fool. And actually most of the others look way better than those ugly suede things on her feet. She’s mad. Good, I’m glad. That’s what you get for making products inaccessible.

Ash makes a really cute wedge sneaker for $250

Get over it! Designers copy each other all the time. As it stated, imitation is a form of flattery. The not so rich need style to but not for the high end prices. Get over it lady!!

  • Nyeoma

She sounds delusional like Diane Von Furstenburg, saying she created the wrap dress and wanted folks to stop creating it! Have a seat.. please.. The designers are crazy..

She needs to shut up. Celebs who can afford it are gonna pay the 800 dollars for her shoes simply because they can afford it and her name is attached to it. Those who can’t will pick up a pair from forever21. Its not like she’d be getting money from those who can’t afford it even if the knocks offs weren’t made. They’re not even cute.

Is she really serious??? I mean who is she kidding, this style is not new at all. The wedge sneaker or high heel sneaker has been around for ages and is just making a comeback as most styles do. My first pair of guess ones i copped in the late 90′s or early 2000. The only thing different from now & then is that there are velcro strap ons as opposed to laces. So in all actuality she may have expanded on the concept but can’t be given credit for creating it. Next. That is how its supposed to be in the fashion world where 1 puts their own twits on things or be an original & start a trend.
