British Invasion: Hollywood’s 15 Hottest British Celebs (Gotta Love That Accent!)

The British invasion of the entertainment industry has been going strong for years, and seems to be picking up speed, especially in music. We have to admit we’re a tad bit excited about it. There’s just a certain appeal that those oh-so charming accents bring to the industry.

Check out our list of Hollywood’s 15 hottest Brits.

Idris Elba

The handsome and laid-back Idris Elba can make the ladies swoon on looks alone. Add to that his hot British accent and you’ve got an allure that is off the charts. Elba came to the attention of the public in the hit HBO series The Wire back in 2002, and has been making a splash ever since. This year you can catch him in Pacific Rim, Thor: Dark World and The Long Walk to Freedom as Nelson Mandela.

Daniel Craig

He’s Bond, James Bond. Though Craig’s turn as James Bond was initially riddled with controversy due to the casting choice, he won critics and fans over once the film was released. His Bond is praised for being rugged, dangerous, and a little dark, and with Skyfall being lauded as the best Bond film yet, Craig has cemented his status in movie history. We also need to mention his piercing blue eyes which make him captivating to behold onscreen.

Naomi Harris

Fans of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest were probably shocked to find that underneath the long dreads, dark make-up and thick Jamaican accent voodoo priestess Tia Dalma aka Calypso (the G0ddess of the Sea) was quite a lovely woman with an English accent. Naomie Harris is a rarity in the film industry, being a mainstream Black actress, and a British one at that!  Her latest role in the film Skyfall allowed her two honors: being a Bond girl and being the first Black woman to portray the character Eve Moneypenny. Naomie will star opposite Idris Elba as Winnie Mandela in The Long Walk to Freedom.

Tom Hardy

Tom Hardy

This London-born hunk has been winning women over with his appearance in films like Inception, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and This Means War. Men too can enjoy Hardy’s work in Warrior as an MMA fighter and The Dark Knight Rises as the militant villain Bane. He’s not a bad guy in real life but his devilish good looks, English accent and fit physique covered in tattoos give him all the appeal of a bad boy.

Since her debut in 2008 at the age of 19, Adele has made a career unlike any other young artist out right now. The multi-platinum selling artist may not be the smallest songbird in the tree but she is looking better than ever these days, and with 103 awards under her belt including 9 Grammys, a Golden Globe, and now an Oscar, she is definitely H-O-T: HOT!

 Naomi Campbell

Oxygen Celebrates the Premiere of "THE FACE" at The Marquee nightclub

Despite her anger issues, Naomi Campbell is still one of the hottest top models to grace the fashion world. The 42-year-old professional strutter still puts it down on the runway, though that may be on hold for some time since she’s now a judge on the new Oxygen reality show/modeling contest The Face.

James McAvoy

No matter what role he plays, James McAvoy always comes off as the endearing sweetheart. Maybe it’s his kind blue eyes or perhaps his soft voice laden with a Scottish accent, both of which add to his status as a sex symbol– a status the actor finds quite enigmatic. Hunk appeal aside, McAvoy is a true actor, able to transform himself for a spectrum of films whether it be superhero flicks, action, dramas, or period pieces. Look for McAvoy in upcoming films Trance and Welcome to the Punch in March. And before you make a fuss, Scotland is located in the northern part of  the island of Great Britain.

Melanie Brown

She inspired girl power all around the world with her spunky persona as Scary Spice. These days, when she’s not reuniting with the girls for sold-out world tours, Mel. B can be seen making appearances on various reality TV shows, and she is looking amazing while doing it. Brown is currently  slated to replace Sharon Osbourne in the 8th season of America’s Got Talent.

Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson has made quite the female following with his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga film series. If his character wasn’t enough to make him a hearthrob, surely his real-life English accent did the trick. Though, admittedly, he’s much less smooth and much more awkward in real life, Pattinson’s brooding nature as Edward is authentic.

Emeli Sandé

The British invasion of music continues strong with Emeli Sandé (whose real name is, get this, Adele). The England-born Scotland-raised singer/songwriter came to public attention in 2009 when she was featured on English rapper Chipmunk’s song “Diamond Rings.” Since then, she has written for several artists including Rihanna, Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis and Cheryl Cole. While she has not reached the mainstream in the US just yet, she’s no stranger to success, having penned, been featured on, and performed several top ten hits in the UK. Her album Our Version of Events became the highest selling album in the UK in 2012.

Jason Statham

It’s hard not to watch Jason Statham kick butt onscreen and smile in awe of his clean and quick martial arts skills. The former model and street hustler is a dying breed in film: the lone action hero was able to take down six guys at once with swift kicks and complex bone crushing combos, filling the spot once occupied by legends like Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li. His style is raw and rugged, and his accent only ups his swag factor and sex appeal.

Chiwetel Ejiofor

Chiwetel Ejiofor (we won’t fault you for not being able to pronounce his name)  was a prominent stage actor in London before catching his big break in Steven Spielberg’s Amistad in 1997. The handsome 35-year-old, who rarely uses his English accent in films, went on to receive roles in several popular movies like Love Actually, Four Brothers, Children of Men, American Gangster, 2012 and Salt.

Rita Ora

With her gorgeous face, it’s not hard to see why Rita Ora has caught the attention of the public. Her looks and style are a cross between Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, and Gwen Stefani, but she’s not just a pretty face. Ora is full of attitude and talent. The jazzy-voiced singer from West London hasn’t quite broken the American market (with her music at least…) but she is a top ten artist in her home of the UK.

 Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale is simply one of the most gorgeous leading ladies in the movie business today. She’s poised and elegant and best of all, talented! The Underworld actress is the daughter of two actor parents, so it’ s no wonder the craft seems to come so easily to her.

David Beckham

There’s only one word to describe David Beckham: GORGEOUS. The famous footballer (that’s soccer player, for the ethnocentric American) made an ace decision in parlaying his good looks into a modeling/endorsement career. Now women everywhere can admire him in his skivvies all the while envying Victoria Beckham for what she gets to go home to every night.
