When it comes to celebrity breakups we often expect the parties involved to remain civil and take the high road but sometimes their emotions get the better of them.
Check out these 15 celebs who let off a little steam by publicly dissing their famous ex.
After their long and messy custody battle--which saw him the winner-- Usher took to throwing a little diss at ex-wife Tameka Foster. The new judge on The Voice tweeted a photo of him and a dog with the words "I said I'd never trust a B**ch again. Meet my best friend. Ok Ok Ok, I'm done with sayin B**ch. Just had to say B**ch one more time." Though he mentioned no names, it's not hard to know who he was referring to.
The Jelena breakup has been all the rage lately, especially with Selena Gomez taking shots at her ex-boyfriend pop star Justin Bieber. While on The David Letterman show in March 2013, the Springbreakers star suggested that she once made Bieber cry. Letterman told a brief story saying that the last time Justin Bieber was on his show he made him cry. Selena quipped, "well that makes two of us."
In 2009, while doing promotions for her role in Lee Daniels' Precious, Mariah Carey spoke to Larry King about her relationship with ex-husband and record executive Tommy Mottola, claiming that she was abused mentally and emotionally and that he was very controlling. She also mentions at one point that she wasn't even allowed to leave the house at times during their 4-year marriage.
We're not sure Brad was trying to insult his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, but his statement to Parade magazine in 2011 that he wasn't leading an interesting life and his marriage may have contributed certainly isn't a compliment. The actor said, "It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t."
At this point, Taylor Swift's career is built on her therapeutic exercise of dissing her exes in song. She tackles several of her former flames like the one who broke up with her via phone in 27 seconds (Joe Jonas), the one who couldn't decide on his emotions (Jake Gyllenhaal), and the one who toyed with her innocent heart for the fun of it (John Mayer).
Justin Timberlake seriously put Britney Spears on blast in his song "Cry Me a River" singing "You don't have to say what you did/I already know/ I found out from him/Now there's just no chance/ For you and me, there'll never be..." made it pretty clear that Brit had been unfaithful. He took it a step further by exacting his revenge on her with a Brtiney look-a-like in the music video. It was so genius that the song and video officially made him a solo star.
Following her divorce from Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez revealed to Vanity Fair that she had compromised herself in her marriage to the singer, who apparently wasn't treating her "in the right way" and wasn't "doing the right thing for himself." She eventually learned this was no way to live saying, "if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me. I love myself enough to walk away from that now."
Well, we knew Jesse James was a low-down dirty cheat when he stepped out on Sandra Bullock but he took "scumbag" to a whole new level when he went on Howard Stern and divulged to the provocative radio personality that his then-fiancé Kat Von D. was better in bed than his ex-wife. Apparently, it wasn't a hard decision, either. James told Stern "That one's an easy no-brainer. 100 percent!"
Responding to rumors that Jennifer Aniston had dumped him because he tweeted too much, John Mayer told Playboy in 2010 that this wasn't the case but that their social-media interests were a big difference between them. He then proceeded to call Aniston a time-warped dinosaur. Well, not in so many words. Mayer told the magazine, "The brunt of her success came before TMZ and Twitter. I think she's still hoping it goes back to 1998." He probably wasn't trying to be insulting but Mayer just has such a way with words.
Hot on the heels of her divorce announcement in 2008, Madonna wasted no time in throwing a jab at her husband director Guy Ritchie. Madge dedicated her song "Miles Away" to "anybody who knows someone who is emotionally retarded," adding "maybe you know some people who fall into that category. God knows I do." Ritchie responded in kind telling Esquire magazine, "She's retarded too!"

After 14 years of marriage and a divorce that seems to have left him a little scarred, Sean Penn told Vanity Fair that ex-wife and actress Robin Wright-Penn is "like a ghost to me now," and went even further to say that looking back over his romantic life, he doesn't feel that he was ever loved by anyone. If that's not a slap in the face to a 14-year marriage, we don't know what is.

With a 10-year custody battle one can only expect that some pretty vitriolic things are said and done. This was the case with Alec Baldwin and ex-wife Kim Bassinger. Baldwin claimed Bassinger was trying to turn their daughter Ireland against him, saying she was "narcissistically projecting" her reality unto their daughrer. For her part, in 2007, Bassinger released a statement urging her ex to "finally address his unstable and irrational behavior."
