Imagine one of the great fashion houses taking you under its wing as its pupil. With the establishment of Fondazione Ferragamo, a foundation created by Italian fashion house, Salvatore Ferragamo, it might be possible. The prestigious fashion house created the foundation to support, encourage and educate future fashion talent. The foundation’s chairwoman and widow of Salvatore, Wanda Ferragammo, told WWD,“young people are the engine of any society, the force that ensures continuity and the future, however, they must have the chance to demonstrate their worth and their abilities.”
The foundation, based in Florence, will foster the budding fashion leaders through a curriculum that offers “training courses, laboratories and cultural activities.” It will also serve the purpose of promoting awareness of the brand’s heritage through events that are in collaboration with the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum. Grant awards and scholarships will also be awarded to selected students.
