Swatch Group recently closed a deal that added high-end jeweler, Harry Winston to its portfolio.  The Swiss watch giant bought the retail division of the luxury diamond jeweler for a cool billion, with $250 million being pro forma net debt, reports Fashion Week Daily.  According to Forbes, the diamond mining portion of the company, which was not sold, will now operate under the name Dominion Diamond Corporation.

The acquisition, in our book, is a marriage well made.  Harry Winston, although known for its diamonds, also creates excellent timepieces that live up to the quality and name of the brand.  Also, Swatch Group is no stranger to the luxury market, although the plastic watches of yesteryear may be the first thing to spring to mind.  The company owns a prestigious and luxury range that includes brands such as Breguet, Blancpain, Glashütte Original, Jaquet Droz, Léon Hatot, and Omega.

Taking our cue from the merger of the timekeeper and the famed diamond retailer, we’ve decided to scout for an acquisition of our own.

Check out the watches below that functions both as jewelery and timepieces.
