Medical Condition: Epilepsy

After Lil Wayne was admitted to the hospital in critical condition on March 13, 2013 for suffering three seizures in a row, the media speculated that the cause of his health scare was his constant consumption of cough syrup a.k.a. purple drank or sizzurp. While he is known to use the drug, the chart-topping rapper revealed in a Power 106 radio interview that he suffers from epilepsy, and that he’s had “a bunch of seizures” that the public never hears about. Some may recall that in October 2012 Lil Wayne was also admitted to the hospital after suffering seizures.

So the pic of Lil Wayne was a trick?

  2. says:

I thought Toni Braxton had Lupus??

    • says:

      was just about to say

    • says:

      She does.. :/

    • says:

Yeah, the author of this slideshow left that out but she def also has heart disease. She’s done quite a few interviews and speaking engagements on it.

      • says:

They didn’t leave out her lupus. If you read her section again, it’s the very last thing mentioned.

      • says:

This is true, and I feel very sorry for her. Lupus is a cruel disease, that can show no outward symptoms but be incredibly painful all the same. I was once diagnosed with Lupus because my doctors didn’t do the right blood tests. When I researched it, I discovered that Lupus can destroy all of the sufferers internal organs along with the joints. When the correct tests revealed my condition to be RA, Rheumatoid Arthritis, I was much relieved. I live with pain and deformity, but it’s better than Lupus, which can and does kill.

      • says:

The heart disease is caused by Lupus.

    • says:

She does and it’s in the slide show. The heart disease is more than likely a side effect of Lupus. I’ve had Myocarditis twice–just like Toni. It’s my body attacking the walls of my heart. Lupus is mean.

  3. says:

    What about t-boz

  4. says:

Wayne does not have epilepsy. It’s a lie. He doesn’t want people to know
he has a drug problem. People with epilepsy don’t pop pills, drink purp
(sizzurp), and drink like he does. He won’t stop until he kills
himself. He has too many “yes” men around him enabling him. They need to
call it what it is….a drug problem.

  5. says:

Kim Kardashian’s psoriasis is not as serious as the diseases you posted. Please stick to the life threatening diseases. and the real celebrities

    • says:

That is so true!!! Kim Kardashian don’t have a life threating illness to even talk about. Please stick to and post issues that are life threating. Not to keep making her famous because she isn’t dying of a skin problem.

    • says:

Gosh I was JUST thinking that! Epilepsy, heart disease, diabetes, LUPUS (I’m a Lupie…it’s a hard life), and they just HAD to throw Kim’s itchy skin in the mix. It’s borderline disrespectful for people fighting life-threatening conditions.

    • says:

I have psoriasis and it can cause joint problems, hair loss. You must struggle with it all your life .If you have severe psoriasis, you must take an aggressive oral medication called Methotrexate. Ever hear of it??? It’s a cancer drug that can affect your liver. You must be monitored very closely and have your blood drawn every other week. It can cause you severe fatigue. So If you have it, then it is serious to YOU.

  6. says:

I won’t feel sorry for Lil Wayne- he brought this upon himself- and has lead many young impressionable kids down the wrong path thru his horrific lyrics in his songs.

  7. says:

    ha- borderline Lupus??? How stupid.

  8. says:

At least they are all financially able to pay for the medical care that they need. Why is this news?

    • says:

Honestly, like Toni Braxton, conditions like Lupus can drain your finances. The medical issues never stop. She’s filed bankruptcy twice and has a lot of issues with keeping a steady schedule of work because with Lupus, some days it’s impossible to even get out of the bed.

  9. says:

If Venus has Sjorgrens Syndrome, she may have undiagnosed systemic lupus as well. The two often go together. I have Lupus and Fibromyalgia.

    • says:

So do I, and it’s exactly what I said when I read this. I think she’s been diagnosed with SLE and just won’t say it.

  10. says:

Bret Michaels is also a type 1 diabetic

    • says:

Yes he does, but he doesn’t take care of it. He’s a work-a-holic who has already nearly died from a Stroke!

  11. says:

Psoriasis is not a serious medical condition.

    • says:

Psoriasis can be indeed a very serious illness. There are different kinds of psoriasis, some more debilitating than others. People who have more than 10% involvement of their bodies (1% = the size of your hand) suffer not only mobility problems, but internal temperature upheaval. Plus, the medications that may or may not keep the disease under control (psoriasis can be very resistant to any treatment) are very toxic and the side effects include liver and kidney damage, as well as lymphoma.

      • says:

It is NOT a serious medical condition. Get real.

        • says:

No, you do research and shut up.

          • says:

The article is about Celebirties with Life Threatening Illnesses, Kim Kartrashyass does not have a life threatening version of the disease you dim bulbed more ons.

          • says:

says the guy who just spelled morons, “more ons”

          • says:

most sites auto check and delete your comment, glad to see this one does not. MORON!

          • says:

As I said before, people OFTEN make TYPOS when commenting on these forums. I made one myself. A simple typing mistake has nothing to do with spelling ability or IQ. What DOES make me question someone’s IQ (and manners), is when they have no other defense to offer, so they try reverse psychology and criticize the person who dared to offer a bad comment about their favorite “person-in-the-news”. I will NEVER be tricked into calling ANY of the Kardashians “celebrities”. They are NOT! They are nothing more than born-into-a-rich-family spoiled brats who love seeing their names and faces printed everywhere. So, they did a reality show on TV? Big deal! That takes no talent at all. All the Kardashians needed was to be born with a pile of cash under their baby pillows, and they feel that gives them the right to be on camera and in every doggone magazine available in the US and elsewhere! Well, as far as I’m concerned IT DOESN’T. They are super rich business women, whose parents literally BOUGHT their positions for them! That’s ALL they are and ever will be! Kim dragged every little event and emotion during her insufferable pregnancy before the press, making sure she wrung every last drop of publicity from the event. Then to top it off, she gives her poor baby daughter the most retarded name possible…NORTH WEST! Really, how idiotic can you get? Just so she could squeeze one final drop of Paparazzi attention from the birth of this baby (And, of course, she HAD TO get herself knocked up to keep on trend with every other publicity hound in the news these days!). Kim gave not a single thought to the insults and bullying her daughter is going to have to live with because of this dumb name! It got her a little more publicity, and that’s what matters to her!) The Kardashians are NOT even important. I’m sick of hearing about them. I just want them gone!

          • says:

Good for you ronhanforth! And what Stacey, the Kardashian fan, forgets is that people OFTEN make TYPOS (Typographical Errors) when they type responses on these forums. I made one of my own in my previous post, by not capitalizing a letter I, when referring to myself. Isn’t it funny how all of these Kardashian worshipers all turn out to support each other when their “I’ve-never-done-anything-important-but-am-famous-anyway-because-I’m-filthy-rich” idols are criticized. The Kardashians play these people like violins, and they go along with it. Shows where IQ levels in this country have fallen to recently!

          • says:

I don’t need to do research, Nicole, i speak from personal experience, not from my sad devotion to a family of publicity lovers who just HAVE TO have their names and their faces included in EVERYTHING!

        • says:

Very true! It isn’t. And it DOES NOT cause the problem that our Kardashian fan mentioned.

        • says:

If you are Supposed to be a Nurse, you obviously need to check your facts before you speak, because you may just be incorrect. Psoriasis causes raised, red patches, often with a silvery scale, known as plaques, to appear on the skin. Plaques can appear anywhere on the body. The most common locations for the plaques are on the elbows, knees, scalp, and lower back. “In the past, psoriasis was viewed primarily as a cosmetic nuisance that was not thought to extend beyond the obvious plaques apparent on the skin.” Over the years, multiple studies have found that psoriasis is associated with a number of potentially serious medical conditions, including cardiovascular disease, cancer and lymphoma, obesity and metabolic syndrome (also known as “Syndrome X”), autoimmune diseases (Crohn’s disease and diabetes mellitus I and II, for example), psychiatric diseases (such as depression and sexual dysfunction), psoriatic arthritis, sleep apnea, personal behavior issues, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and even increased mortality. Dr. Menter explains that the majority of these diseases can have a significant impact on a patient’s overall health and affect psoriasis patients in different degrees of severity. Doctors are finding that psoriasis is more than a skin disorder. About one in four people with psoriasis develop a form of arthritis called psoriatic arthritis that can cause pain, stiffness and swelling in the joints. Studies have shown that people with psoriasis face a higher risk of heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular problems. The underlying link may be chronic inflammation, which plays a role in psoriasis and heart disease. Psoriasis symptoms vary from person to person. Doctors use several factors to determine the severity of a patient’s psoriasis. I have Psoriasis, but I also have Lupus, Sjogren’s Syndrome, Graves Disease, Fibromyalgia, Crohns, Congestive Heart Failure, Kidney Disease, Arthritis, Hypertension and etc. No one has the right to tell anyone, how they feel. No one can judge you, except for the Lord above. You don’t know how anyone feels, unless you have experienced it yourself, but everyones illness is different. No one has the same exact symptoms. So Shame On All Of You, who are trying to put down Psoriasis Patients.

It is a serious medical condition,if u went to medical school you would know…

  12. says:

Ok Kim K and psoriasis! Wow that just f’ed up the entire article!

    • says:

Yep! I’m with you. It screwed the entire article for me. This was supposed to be about CELEBRITIES not publicity hungry show offs!

  13. says:

Well, they say Little Wayne has epilepsy, but his most grave medical conditions are his infinite stupidity and his mind boggling low class. (For all you haters out there, know that people with epilepsy live normal dignified lives everywhere. Little Wayne is just a complete tool).

  14. says:

Note to author and copy editor: the term is celiac disease, not “Celiac’s”. Celiac is an adjective referring to the abdominal cavity that becomes inflamed. The term is merely descriptive, rather than being the person who named the condition.

  15. says:

Calling psoriasis a major condition is as stupid as paying attention to Kim Fatassian. Please die.

  16. says:

All Venus (and Serena) Williams are suffering from are side effects of massive steroid abuse.

    • says:

And you are suffering form uglyitis!

      • says:

Ummm, Sueme, have you ever seen this person? I doubt it. So, how can you call him ugly? Your response is just another case of worshiping “a person in the news”. I can recall, only vaguely, hearing the names of the two women mentioned here, so they can hardly be genuine celebrities, can they? Until they demonstrate that they have any kind of real talent, the remain for me, nothing more than “people mentioned in the news”. You need to remember that neither of the “ladies” that you are defending would never lower themselves to give YOU the same sort of consideration. To them you are “little people”, “unimportant”, and beneath them. Remember that 90% of all celebrities think of their fans in exactly that way, and you won’t be so quick to rise to their defense. They certainly wouldn’t do the same for you!

        • says:

Watching Venus and Serena play tennis, you know you’re in the presence of greatness. They are amazing sisters.
Venus Ebony Starr Williams is an American professional tennis player who is a former World No. 1 and is ranked World No. 29 in singles as of March 1, 2014.
Serena Jameka Williams is an American professional tennis player who is currently ranked No. 1 in women’s singles tennis. The Women’s Tennis Association has ranked her World No. 1 in singles on six separate occasions.

  17. says:

It’s disgusting and offensive that you would include Kim Kardashian and psoriasis in this article as well as extremely ignorant.

    • says:

Here here! I wonder if Kim paid to have her name and her rash included. Very likely, I think.

      • says:

LMAO…her rash! Itchy itchy………woe is Kim. They have creams that will cure that. Find me a cure for Lupus, and I can accept Kim’s itches as serious.

  18. says:

OK,who wants to help form a prayer circle for the Prince and Kim ???? Yeah,me neither….lol

  19. says:

Don’t rag on Venus Williams, she only suffers from raging testosterone issues.
She’ll be all right once her testicles finally descend and she can comfortably grow a thick bushy beard.

  20. says:

And where is Oprah Winfrey on this list?!?
Oprah suffers from uncontrollable “Cake in Mouth Syndrome”.
It’s a condition that can only be controlled by regular rootbeer enemas (the fizzing lets you know that it’s working). Poor Oprah has suffered most of all, having to shove slice after slice of heavily frosted cake into her maw every 15 minutes or she collapses and the EMT’s have to rush onstage to administer a Frosting I.V. tube.

  21. says:

How exactly is psoriasis a “Serious medical condition.”

    • says:

Psoriasis can become psoriatic arthritis, and be very debilitating when it flairs up.

      • says:

Yes, but it can be controlled with medication. It is not as debilitating as one might expect. The medications for most serious illness cause more damage than the disease. Humira, one of the medications for Plaque Psoriasis can cause Cancer. I’d far rather have the Psoriasis, thank you!

  22. says:

Psoriasis? ARE YOU KIDDING? I doubt her case is one of the severe ones.
It be might annoying, especially if you do modeling, but it certainly doesn’t belong on a list with diabetes, lupus and epilepsy.

  23. says:

bret micheals is diabetic type 1,which has resulted in his heart disease.

  24. says:

I feel like I’m going to have a seizure every time I look at him.

  25. says:

This site sucks. I am not slowly clicking through twenty pictures so the site can get page views. Boring and stupid way to set up a site.

  26. says:

Here is what I don’t understand…2.7 millions of Americans have and live with epilepsy every day. But we don’t hear any of this until it happens to a “celebrity”. Why does it take a celebrity to bring awareness to a condition that has been around for 3000 years?

    • says:

Agree Amber. I was diagnosed with epilepsy 2 years ago (50′s) & 6 months later my son had his first grand mal seizure. Top epileptologists still don’t know why either.

  27. says:

There is no such thing as “borderline” lupus. Lady Gaga may have had certain blood tests show up abnormal, but that doesn’t really mean anything. It’s like being “a little pregnant” – you either have lupus or you don’t.

    • says:

I tested positive for a ANA -Anti Nuclear Antibodies – meaning white cells without a nucleus. A high ANA count is one of the primary symptoms of Lupus. However, if my doctors had also done the right tests they would have seen that the RA Factor in my blood was sky high, and my ANA count was much too low to be causing such severe pain! And yes, my sister also passed her Epilepsy onto her oldest son, who lives with Grand Mal Seizures. My sister gets the less terrifying Petite Mal Seizures. She was 14 or 15 when she had her first one. She and I were playing a board game together, when, following a few abrupt twitches, she fell from her chair and began to seize on the floor. I was just a small child – she’s six years older then me – and I remember being terrified and screaming for my mother! Trust me, contracting something like that a such a young age can traumatize a person for life! It certainly has done so in my sister’s case. She’s terrified of being anywhere without her medication. And, with each child she gave birth to her condition grew increasingly worse. Her doctors would not permit her to continue her fourth pregnancy.

KSonyka, what is it that you have that takes so long to diagnose? You must have gone through hell.

      • says:

My ANA has been negative in the past. The levels tend to be higher when I’m having an awful flare. This makes diagnosis a PROCESS–it wasn’t until my second bout with Myocarditis that I received a definite diagnosis. Before then, my rheumatologist just “suspected’ that Lupus was the cause of my symptoms.

    • says:

You’re right, Tammy. You either have Lupus or you don’t. So, Lady Dodo has some aches and pains. It sure isn’t Lupus. If she was in THAT kind of pain, she wouldn’t be rolling around on a stage doing concerts! She’d also be avoiding the sun as much as possible because the sun can cause Lupus flare ups. She once attended a baseball game wearing nothing but a bra and panties, with an unbuttoned shirt over them ( If we tried that we’d be in jail!). If she had Lupus, she would have suffered dearly for being exposed to all that direct sunlight! I spent years avoiding the sun, wearing wide brimmed hats to protect my face and neck, long sleeved tops, long skirts or long pants in the summer heat, until I discovered the real cause of my joint pain. It wasn’t until I started experiencing noticeable deformities in my joints, that a doctor actually performed the test for for RA. My joint pain, with redness and swelling began when I was 17 years old. I was in my late 20s – nearly ten years later – when I got the correct diagnosis. When you’re a young mother, pregnant with your second child at 28, hearing that you have RA can be hard, but not as hard as hearing that you have Lupus. It makes me sick when some pubicity hound like the Kardashian twit, or Lady Dumb Dumb just HAS TO make up something to their names included in an article like this, alongside REAL celebrities, with REAL, life threatening and miserable ailments! Can you imagine anything worse, than being a 30 year old actor, with a career in movies, and a young family, like Micheal J. Fox, hearing a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease? It must have been devastating! What about the Celebrity with MS? THOSE conditions are worth mentioning. But as skin rash and “borderline Lupus”? Give me a break!

  28. says:

Mick Mars is not on this list. He suffers from Ankylosing Spondylitis

    • says:

So do I. I was kicked out of USAF basic training at 18 yrs old with the diagnosis of Ankylosing Spondalytis. It’s just a spinal arthritis. But as long as you do whatever you need to maintain flexibility and if you can afford it, biologic modifiers.

As for Kim K’s Psoriasis, that can often lead to Psoriatic arthritis, which is just as painful and debilitating as any other arthritis.

      • says:

yes, it can, but she has what amounts to a small spot on her leg. she is far removed from an advanced state that can turn into Psoriatic arthritis.

I know. I was disqualified for Military Service 30 years ago because of Psoriasis.

        • says:

It’s war time. If you were the right age, they’d surely take you now.

        • says:

@ronhanforth:disqus Do you live with Kim everyday now and go to her doctors appointment too? Just because that one photo or scene from their TV
show, highlighted the psoriasis on her leg, doesn’t mean that the next flare, it will have not moved somewhere else. Also possibly spread to numerous sites. You’ll sit up here and judge these people and act like you know everything about them, when you in fact know NOTHING, except for the gossip that you read, and you run with it. You don’t know the severity of their illnesses and how they truly feel. Then you talk about they don’t deserve to be on this page, or in the news all the time. But it’s people like you that continue to keep them in the lime light. Everytime you say something, you continue to bring up Kim’s name and situation. It seems like more of an infatuation and jealousy. Concentrate on things that make you happy and improve your life, instead of always putting others down and finding fault in them.

          • says:

whatever, infatuated apologist. The only reason I am talking about her is because of psoriasis issue.

  29. says:

The writers on this trash site will inject the name Kim Kartrashyass anywhere they can in hopes of boosting views. Life threatening illness my @$$!

  30. says:

    1) For serious? You’re going to put “borderline lupus” and freakin psoriasis next to multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and ACTUAL lupus? The word is: gratuitous. SHAME on you. I mean, honestly. Why not throw in Brooke Shields and her brave struggle with “inadequate eyelashes”? Way to trivialize actual serious illnesses.

    2) While part of me appreciates this (the part that has a chronic, painful, potentially fatal autoimmune condition and feels very lonely), part of me gets kind of annoyed knowing that with enough money/fame you can be taken seriously enough to get a bs diagnosis like “borderline lupus.”

Whereas the rest of us can go in to the doctor for years and years and get jerked around, lied to, experimented upon, laughed at, condescended to, financially drained, gaslighted, straight up ignored, et cetera. My condition? Takes an average of twelve YEARS to be properly diagnosed. That’s 12 years of being told you’re crazy or making it up, 12 years of excruciating biopsies, 12 years of side effects, 12 years of lab fees… 12 years of no treatment. (And after that no real treatment anyway, cuz there isn’t one and nobody’s doing any research because who cares.) But Lady Gaga’s got “borderline lupus,” and a ton of money, and I’m supposed to give a crap.

Also, I can’t help but be a little bitter. Notice anything about the autoimmune disorder sufferers? Here’s the list: Montel Williams, Toni Braxton, Nick Cannon, Venus Williams, Missy Elliot… aaand Lady Gaga. One of these things is not like the others. I dunno, maybe I should look on the bright side: maybe someone will actually care now. :/

  31. says:

Are you kidding me!!!!! Kim K made this list for Psoriasis OMG!!!!! I didn’t know you could die from this!

  32. says:

MS is a serious medical condition. Being allergic to wheat is NOT.

    • says:

Celiac Disease IS life threatening. The damage can be permanent and cause death to to lack of nutrition or cancer. The Mayo Clinic website has information about this.

      • says:

        Then don’t eat wheat.

        • says:

GLUTEN/WHEAT is in 90% of all food. You dont know anything about this and your comments are stupid.

          • says:

It absolutely is not; THAT comment is stupid. I feel for the extremely small percentage of people who actually ARE allergic to gluten, severely enough to actually get very sick or even die. But, most people who claim to be allergic aren’t.

          • says:

Ceilacs disease is growing each year. Who knows why. BUT IT IS A LIFE THREATENING ILLNESS. YOUR IGNORANCE IS INCREDIBLE.

      • says:

True. Many food allergies are life threatening. My daughter has a friend who is severely allergic to chicken. If she gets even a little of it she goes into anaphylactic shock! She has to care an Epipen (Containing a dose of injectable Epinephrene) with her at all times.

    • says:

      Celiac disease can kill you.

  33. says:

Hey ummm p.s. If you’re going to talk about celebs with health conditions, and you’re going to include Bret Michaels, you might want to at least mention that he’s a type I diabetic… You know, just to make it seem like you give a hoot about the stuff you’re posting. In addition, no one gives a fig about pseudo celebs with psoriasis or celiac’ s… I’m sure you could find plenty of reality stars with learning disabilities and chronic hangnails that would be more intriguing.

  34. says:

Wheat/ gluten is in 90% of all food. You dont know anything about this. Your comments are stupid

  35. says:

Am I supposed to feel sorry for these people? millions of others suffer from the same diseases everyday and it doesn’t matter until somebody famous dies.cry me a river.

  36. says:

Bret Michaels main problem is diabetes that is well known. Please do more research when doing an article
also the fact you cannot mute your ads are annoying.dont expect me back to your site.:(

  38. says:

Psorriasis is NOT a serious ailment. In fact, it isn’t a real ailment at all. It is a common skin rash that can be easily treated and cured! Both my late father, and my older sister had the condition. Daddy cured his by exposing his skin to natural sunlight. My sister uses a prescription creme, which clears it up in a matter of days. The REAL truth here is that the Kardashians – Kim especially – are a family of in-your-face show-offs, all of them totally publicity addicted. They are insatiably driven to have their annoying faces and names connected with anything and everything. No matter what the story is, they HAVE TO find a way to get themselves included. Seriously, If this story had been about celebrites with PARASITIC TWINS PROTRUDING FROM THEIR BODIES, Kim would have found a way to have her name and ugly face included! And, trust me, just like Kim’s previous FAKE MARRIAGE that last only a matter of days (Just as it was SUPPOSED TO! )she wouldn’t be beyond wearing a prosthesis to back the story about the attached twin! I know a great many people, who just like myself, are sick to death of this fame-addicted family. You can’t go into a shop and pick up ANY kind of magazine without being confronted by their images and stories about them. It’s been years since I’ve been able to surf the INTERNET without seeing their disgusting, air-brushed and carefully filtered images! They aren’t celebrities. They aren’t even important. They aren’t even celebrities, all they are, is a family of super greedy, super rich people born with platinum spoons in their mouthes. They have zero talent. Can’t and DON’T perform (I don’t consider making a fool of yourself on a TV Reality show acting. Far from it!), and aren’t capable of doing anything aside from carrying on to attract the attention of the Paparazzi! Their father, Bruce Jenner is a HAS-BEEN with a capitol H. He won some Olympic medals way back when. Big frigging deal! Kris Jenner’s only claim to fame is how far in debt her uncontrollable spending has taken her. I just want ALL OF THEM to frigging GO AWAY!

  39. says:

Kardashian doesn’t count. My 91 year-old grandmother deals with psoriasis daily and has FAR fewer complaints. She (my grandmother) is truly an image of grace. She battles through every day with an upbeat attitude and optimism that she thankfully doesn’t have to deal with something far greater.

Kim, do you have cancer? HIV? Leukemia?

Every Kardashian deserves no fame. Their dad rose to notoriety by reactivating his relapsed law license to protect an (acquitted) murderer.

Their shows should be cancelled and contracts nulled. I’ll challenge anyone to convey a LEGITIMATE argument that they deserve a show, contract, etc… I’m not one to wish complete ill will on another, but I wholeheartedly believe that the Kardashians do not deserve an ounce of what has been bestowed upon them.

I surely can’t be the only one that feels this way.

I’d love to hear both sides. Do you think they really deserve this??
