StyleBlazer Survey: How Do We Really Feel About Jennifer Hudson’s Weight Loss and her new “Skinny Girl” Steez?

The black and latino community have always embraced a fuller “thick” body shape which was always at the opposite end of Hollywood’s standards. Jennifer Hudson has been promoting her new weight loss so much so that we’ve all probably forgotten that she put out a new album since the devastating tragedy her family faced in 2009.

In the latest Self magazine, Jennifer proclaims that now that she is a size 6, she is more proud of her weight loss than she is of her Oscar win. Might it just be the case that Hollywood’s obsession with all things thin has really eaten so deep into J-Hud’s psyche?

She’s even popping off on fans through twitter when politely asked if she went under the knife to supplement her weight loss. Jennifer, if she knows it or not, was adored by her fans because she was a breathe of fresh air to cookie-cutter Hollywood.

Now that she’s a size 6 and probably feels like she’s “in” more so than before, we ask you, StyleBlazers, how do we really feel about Jennifer’s weight loss?.

Please Chime in and let us know what you think?

She is getting a lot of hate from overweight/obese women. That question on twitter was not polite. Anyone who has loss significant weight or maintains a healthy weight knows that it takes consistent work and dedication so to insinuate that she achieved it through surgery is insulting. I'm proud of you Jennifer and respect you so much more for taking control of your health and your album is great too!

Losing my own weight, I get the damned if I do and damned if I don't attitude from some people. Like Jennifer, I lost weight for health reasons. Granted, she's in the public eye. I'm sure that wasn't her prime reason for losing weight. Or the fact stress was the contributing factor because she suffered a tragic family event.

Why can't others be happy for her hard work to drop the pounds?

This shouldn't be an issue at all.

Being a woman who is struggling with weight, I have nothing but love, respect and support for Jennifer Hudson. I can see she is happier with the weight loss. It sucks to not be be functioning 100% physically because your not healthy or be able to express yourself the way that YOU want to as far as clothes go because the things you like are not for your body type. I'm sure she has more confidence in every other area of her life because she's not worried about the excess weight and everything else that comes with that.

I do not know where we have been as culture/heritage, but as African-Americans, it is unhealthy, let me repeat unhealthy for us to be so overweight. It breaks my heart when I see young girls and boys who are fat, I am talking 7 or 8 years old, with girls having breasts! It breaks my heart to see teen girls who are weighting 200lbs+ at least! Their breasts and stomachs are gigantic. If they are 200lbs now…what will happen to these girls/women when they reach 40! 300lbs plus?? Studies have shown it is unhealthy to have too much fat, let me reiterate, too much fat is not good for your body. Look at the biggest loser show when the physician states where a person's body is for their real age…being obese…not good. I am 27, but hurting my body by being obese…real age 57! Again, for health sake, not good. Jennifer ought to be commended for attempting to eating healthy and exercise to remain employed in Hollywood. Let's face it, Hollywood likes slim women. Don't care what race you are, be slim or curvy.

I commend you Jennifer. I think it takes tremdous restraint and discipline to lose weight. I can see how the fan comment came off as insulting, because it was intended at such. Please keep up the great work that you are doing. Fat is bad!!!!!!!! – It is not beautiful. As African-American due to our lifestyle we one #1 for every disease there is in America. I do no want to be a statistic.
