So you think you’re a great gifter? That’s impossible, because GiftLab hasn’t hit the U.S. yet.
As a creation of a Net-A-Porter investor, the new site is for the ultimate gifter. Ranging wide in price, visitors can buy items like a $18 box of chocolates to a $56,000 Vicente Gracia opal and diamond brooch. “The site is not about collecting or accumulating — it’s about gifting, an act that people should be proud of,” said Carmen Busquets, an investor behind the site told WWD. “We want it to be fun, fast, easy — and with really special service.”
Merchandise combines a mix of accessories, home goods and fun trinkets you’d normally gift family and friends– but with an upgraded price tag. Moleskine notebooks, Bottega Veneta candles, Alexander McQueen box clutches– all pieces available on GiftLab, which had a November soft launch in the UK and launches in the States in June.
“We’re starting small, but we’re thinking big. Net-a-porter was successful because we were patient, and we didn’t grow too quickly,” Busquets added. In addition to the site, the company plans to open a U.S. office and roll out a marketing camaign for the fall. Currently, Giftlab ships to 158 countries within 72 hours and about 30 percent of the site’s business comes from the U.S.
Looking forward to gifting great?
