Following the footsteps of fashion veterans like Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld—who mange their own eponymous fashion lines in addition to being the creative directors for major houses like Louis Vuitton and Chanel, respectively—Alexander Wang became Nicholas Ghesquière‘s successor at Balenciaga back in 2012. He’s since debuted his inaugural collection for the brand this past Paris Fashion Week Fall 2013, and is now following it up with the collection’s first ad campaign.
Wang recently revealed a teaser for the ad, shot by Steven Klein and modeled by Kristen McMenamy. Colored in gray scale, the ad features billowy separates on a curious McMenamy poking her head into mysterious door. Wang explained to WWD.com that he went for a “very cinematic portrayal…with lots of emotion,” he added, “in contrast to the austerity bestowed in the show.”
According to WWD.com, the ads will debut in host of magazines this June.
