We’ve got another reason to love Kerry Washington! The Scandal star received an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts at her alma mater, George Washington University, where she gave also a commencement speech. Kerry graduated from the university in 1988, and studied a broad range of concentrations, from acting to psychology and sociology, on scholarship. In her speech, she encouraged the graduating class of 2013 to pursue their dreams:

“Your life is your story and the adventure ahead of you is the journey to fulfill your own purpose and potential.”

Words to live by on a Monday morning. Congrats to Kerry and the Class of 2013!

What a joke. How about giving an honorary doctorate to someone who’s actually done something worthy?

  2. says:

Typo, if Kerry is 36 as reported on Wikipedia, I don’t think she graduated in 1988, maybe 1998?
