Zoe Saldana Doesn’t Fault ‘Allure’ For Telling Readers Her Actual Weight

The world quickly shook when Allure published Zoe Saldana’s actual weight as a coverline on their June 2013 issue. The exact wording was, “115 pounds of grit and heartache.”

Unlike real life, Hollywood is a mystical fantastical place where everyone has a magic weight that mere mortals cannot be privy to. But apparently, Zoe doesn’t get what all the upset was about and she noted this in a recent interview with Today.

“I think it would have been wrong if they were lying about my weight” she said. “This is how much I weigh, it’s something I can’t control, it’s who I am. I’ve always been a very thin frame, I was a ballet dancer.”

Weight, like age, has always been a bit of a sensitive subject for women to address and with constant images of rail-sized women in the media, it’s understandable that some may be offended by the small number. But as Zoe noted, it is her actual weight and the point of the coverline was to show that’s she’s thin in frame but a tough women.
