It seems like as soon as we think distressed boyfriend jeans now we see Rihanna and think 90s. Both are cool, but it’s really important to own the look if you want to rock this style. Even with summer here, every occasion won’t call for short shorts, although the clinging fit of your year-round skinny jeans might sound like a jail sentence rather than a save. So the relaxed, breathable fit of the boyfriend jean may be just the happy medium you’ll need. For this one stop shop we headed over to Topshop for a pair, and grabbed a few pieces to go with our boyfriend jeans for a look that’s one part old school and one part modern marvel.

While the baggy distressed denim and crop top read 90s, we incorporated this year’s trendy ankle strap heeled sandals and floral garland headband to give it a more modern feel. We decidedly didn’t stick with any one color theme for the overall look, instead incorporating a couple of the colors, via accessories, featured in the tropical print top to make the look as fun and youthful as possible.
