We’ve all been there. Going through your social media timeline, you may notice some bad (if not embarrassing) style choices. Before Drake became a regular face on the cover of the men’s style bible, GQ, he went through a style evolution that can only be understood (and appreciated) through a Men’s Style Evolution slideshow. Look at the rapper’s growth inside, noting where he went incredibly right and sometimes incredibly wrong along the way:
We've all been there. Going through your social media timeline, you may notice some bad (if not embarrassing) style choices. Before Drake became a regular face on the cover of the men's style bible, GQ, he went through a style evolution that can only be understood (and appreciated) through a Men's Style Evolution slideshow. Look at the rapper's growth inside, noting where he went incredibly right and sometimes incredibly wrong along the way:
2009. For the 2009, BET Music Awards, there were great expectations for the young artist that was to perform with Lil Wayne. Although the combination of a Comme des Garçons' PLAY cardigan and a striped Henley isn't a bad combination for the guy next door, it seemed unfitting for the hip hop star's star power.
2010. Known for his 'cool guy next door' energy, Drake did something a bit confusing back in 2010. Although we have always had a great appreciation for Red Wing boots & Velvet, the combination has yet to bring about a positive reaction.
2011. With a special appearance in his beloved Toronto for the 2011 JUNO Awards, Drake took a bit of a more serious approach. The look, seemingly fit for a young advertising exec, brought on a more refined image for the rapper. This look stands as a defining moment in Drake's style evolution. Like his trend-setting predecessor Kanye West, Drake has always been able to 'fit in' by purposefully not fitting in; defining his own personal style despite the heavily cliched look sported by most Hip Hop / Rap Artists.
2011. Proving that his earlier debonair red carpet looks weren't just a mistake, Drake did it again at the Grammy Awards in 2011 months later, catapulting his name onto the list of Stylish men to watch.
2012. Many people can easily remember this highly debated Alexander McQueen shirt worn by Drake at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. Wearing a shirt that most men would never have the guts to wear, Drake did something a bit fascinating. He actually pulled it off.
2012. While in London in 2012 Drake continued to showcase his love for high end designers, all while still maintaining his guy next door image.
2012. In 2012 Drake covered the April issue of GQ with a look that was a clear reflection of the artists definitive stance on fashion.
2013. Drake covered GQ for a second time as the face of the July 2013 issue. The Hip Hop phenom is among a very short list of rappers to be placed on the cover.
2013. October 24th marks Drizzy's 27th birthday and while there's no telling what the rapper is wearing to celebrate, based on his appearance at the 2013 MTV Music Awards we can assume something casual cool as per usual. Printed tee anyone?
