Riddle me this, riddle me that, how do you keep a man’s pants up without using a belt, or any modern day doodads? Give up? Butt injections! Wait, what?!
Butt enhancement has been a trend among women for quite some time now, butt (see what we did there?) men apparantly want in on the action. According to the New York Times, it is a rising trend among the male population. One man, a construction company owner, and long time sufferer of NoAssAtAll, medically known as flat buttocks, Jeff Vickers, was the butt of all jokes (pun intended). He had a “nonexistent butt” and as a result his construction buddy would joke that “you could drop a plumb bob from the back of [his] head and the string wouldn’t hit anything before it hit the ground.” Vickers also “wanted to be able to put on a pair of pants and for them to stay up,”– belts are apparently passe– so he went ahead to surgically enhance his buttocks by removing fat from his abdomen and love handles, then had it injected into his buttocks.
If you think we are joking, we assure you, it is not April 1st. If you think Vickers is an anomaly, we assure you it is a rising trend. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reported that there has been a 4% increase in cosmetic buttock procedures among men from 2.2% in 1997 to 6.2% in 2012. Freshpair, internet retailer of men’s underwear and women’s intimates, reported an increase in men’s buttocks-enhancing underwear. Five years ago they accounted for less than 1% of sales, however they now account for 6% of sales.
