Fashion and drama will mix for Lifetime’s television movie, “House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder and Survival.” The late Gianni Versace who started his eponymous clothing label in 1978, was shot in 1997 by a spree killer leaving his company in the hands of his sister Donatella.
After a rough start, the label emerged and remained a successful fashion brand with plenty of supporters and fans.
The film will be based on Deborah Ball’s novel, depicting the journey of Gianni and his sister, Donatella from the backward streets of southern Italy to international success. The book consultants the voices of Versace family members, Gianni’s lovers and business rivals, models and Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Cast in the film are actors Enrico Colantoni as Gianni; Raquel Welch as the family’s Aunt Lucia; and most recently, Gina Gershon as Donatella.
We’re excited to see the familiar faces take on the roles of such powerful characters in a twisted plot. The biopic will premiere Oct. 5 on the Lifetime Network.
