Runway Recap: Reem Acra’s Disco Ode For Spring 2014

Blaring disco to the tune of Donna Summer and Daft Punk set the tone of Reem Acra’s Spring 2014 presentation. There’s a lot of adjectives one could use for a fashion show, but “fun” is not typically one. Truly, Monday afternoon at Lincoln Center, was a fun experience with the Lebanese fashion designer.

A hefty collection of 34 looks, Reem’s presentation was an ode to the glam femininity of the 1970s. With teased out hair, the girl’s walked the runway in embellish overlay gowns, houndstooth skirts an tons upon tons of gold. Staying loyal to the usual dramatic evening-wear we’re used to seeing from Reem, this collection had not one pant– of any form. Instead, we saw a seamless collection of day-to-night wear for the serious cosmopolitan.

A nod must go to Reem for keeping her runway extremely diverse, with models of all ethnicity who glowed in her pieces.

Full, feminine and fun– we feasted for more but we’re equally satisfied with the glam we got.
