When you get right down to the root of spring, it’s all about renewal. Immediately we think sprouting fauna, trees, fresh air and lovely things only the season can bring. All of this was encapsulated in Christopher Bailey’s SS14 collection for Burberry Prorsum.

The presentation on Monday for London Fashion Week was attended by fashion elite that included Naomi Harris, Sienna Miller, Hamish Bowles, Alexa Chung and Anna Wintour. Bailey’s Resort 2014 collection was all about “the inner sassiness of the girl next door” using soft tailoring with succinct lines and spring was not far off. The color scheme this go round’ was all about pastels on delicate lace, embroidered overlays, cashmere and beaded garments.

Layers indicated a sense of renewal, regrowth and envelopment of textures. Coupled with sheer lace mid-length dresses were soft jackets, slouchy sweaters, medicine coats and a few monotone prints from Spring 2013. For fun, Bailey also added pops of polka dots on collared blouses.

As one of Burberry most diverse runways yet, we saw an array of black and Asian girls walking the runway for the eager audience.

The collection of 47 pieces, five of which were men’s, was youthful, happy, vibrant and basically merry to watch. We’re definitely looking forward to spring.
