It’s been a big news week for Kate Moss. First, the Los Angeles Times finally confirmed the rumor that Kate Moss would pose for Playboy. (The world gasped in surprise. Not.) The 60th anniversary issue is to hit stands this January, just in time to celebrate Kate’s 40th birthday. It turns out that the men’s magazine, whose star has long been fading, is vying for a comeback and a lot more sophistication.
Jimmy Jellinek, Playboy’s editorial director, told the Times that the magazine set its sights on Moss because, “This is a massive global brand. …You need a global icon in order to celebrate that — that was the impetus. You’re talking about the face of Burberry, the biggest supermodel in the world on the cover of Playboy. She’s the perfect partner for us to help launch the next 60 years.” Hugh Hefner elaborated on the choice, “She’s a worldwide celebrity and iconic and crosses the boundaries from sexual imagery to upscale modeling,” Playboy’s iconic founder Hugh Hefner said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “It’s a natural for us.”
From magazine covers to boots! Stuart Weitzman released details about their fall Made for Walking campaign that will also feature Kate, who stars in a short film for the brand as well. Stuart Weitzman’s chief marketing officer told WWD, ‘“What we really wanted to do was end up owning the word ‘walk.’ We are a brand that combines comfort and style; no matter how high the heel, you can walk in it all day and dance all night.”
From the looks of things as Kate easily struts around London in various over-the-knee boots, they’ve definitely perfected the comfort-and-style combo. The Made for Walking campaign launches tonight in New York and Milan, and Stuart Weitzman is inviting fans to use #madeforwalking over the various social media platforms, and to create their own short videos on Instagram. Watch Kate Moss’s short video for inspiration, and get to work!
