Budget-conscious fashion shoppers can add one more staple to their list: COS. Collection Of Style, a brand produced by H&M, is finally headed stateside early next year. COS’s first store in the United States is set to open in Spring 2014 right here in the New York City’s own SoHo; they will launch an e-commerce cite in 2014 as well.
Marie Honda, a COS executive, commented on the brand’s U.S. expansion, saying ”New York City is a vibrant and exciting city, and we feel SoHo will be the ideal setting for our first store.”
On the brand’s website, they describe themselves as a store “for men and women who want high end design and good quality at an affordable price.” The site goes on to explain that they favor style over the latest fashion and that “COS appreciates timeless design that lives beyond the season. Merging traditional methods with new techniques and innovative fabrics, we work hard to create fashion pieces that look and feel at once classic and modern.”
While browsing through their lookbook, one can detect a minimalist, classic style with an emphasis on clean lines and interesting shapes. The online shop contains virtually zero patterns or prints, and the COS look encompasses those looking for chic workwear, with shapes that give a nod to both Celine and Balenciaga. The COS woman will be someone who enjoys simple, elegant, and almost futuristic fashion, but isn’t looking to break the bank.
