Kerry Washington is Hollywood’s hottest star and we’re not mad at it. We see this lady just about every week on a red carpet or magazine cover and the latest is for Essence magazine’s November 2013 issue. With the return of her hit ABC drama, “Scandal” (Oct 3, 10pm EST), new nuptials and Emmy nomination, Washington had a ton to discuss.
For the cover she was styled by none other than June Ambrose –who recently styled Jay Z for “Vanity Fair”– and is wearing a Rafael Cennamo Couture dress. In the cover shoot Washington talks about if she thinks her character Olivia Pope is a role model and how fans react to her in real life. You can watch the behind-the-scenes video here.
On fans’ reaction to the show: “People are sitting on their couches and they’re in a relationship with us. When people come up to me, they’re saying, ‘What are you going to do next week?'”
On her style vs Olivia Pope’s style: “Olivia has three [fashion] modes: Work Olivia, Black-Tie Gala Olivia and At Home Olivia… My fashion is more eclectic: There’s Going to Work Kerry, which is gym clothes and Nike kicks. That’s the Bronx girl. There’s also Red Carpet Kerry and Out to Dinner With Friends Kerry.”
On what she would do on a girl’s night out: “I drink maybe twice a year. I would be with my three best friends from high school or my girlfriends from the show.”
