On the heels of Hispanic Heritage Month (which just ended yesterday), we thought it would be the perfect time to introduce you to Dominican Republic-born designer, Oriett Domenech. She showed at Dominicana Moda 2012, and was recently pictured with Donna Karan in NYC so we’re hoping a presentation at New York Fashion Week is coming up very soon as she garners more attention on her designs.

Oriett was born in 1983 in the Dominican Republic and, unlike most designers who find their passion for design at a very young age, didn’t catch the design bug until 2004. She enrolled at Altos The Chavon Fashion School to study illustration and design and was quickly nominated for a Mercedes Benz Fashion Award the very next year. She got her first taste of New York in 2005 when she interned for world-renowned designer Oscar de la Renta, and in 2009 she got her big break in the Dominican Republic where she was awarded “The New Fashion Face” award.
