Although the economy has been experiencing a turn around, women are reaping less of the reward. According to the National Women’s Law Center, the bureau of labor statistics has reported that our economy has gained a considerable amount of jobs (204,000 last month), with almost half (97,400) added in the low-wage sectors of leisure & hospitality and retail. Unfortunately, it was also reported that the low-waged jobs went disproportionately to women with approx “two-thirds of the of the 90,000 jobs women gained last month were in leisure & hospitality and retail.” Which is dismal, especially when compare to the fact that “only one-third (38,000) of the 114,000 jobs men added last month were in leisure & hospitality and retail.”
