Authentic Apparel has been approved by the U.S. army to produce a modern-style clothing line inspired and officially licensed by the U.S. Army, making them the only apparel company given a license to use it’s name and branding. And here’s a bonus treat, the new collection will be modeled by none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
“Authentic Apparel Group is about legacy, performance and innovation,” said Dwayne Johnson in the official statement. “I am proud to represent a company that supports and honors the everyday heroes that inspire me.”
Currently, the line consists of menswear and will be sold at Zappos, however, in the future, Authentic Apparel plans to expand into more online and brick-and-mortar stores and also launch a women’s line. The collection will include jackets, pants, sweaters and shirts which will take on classic military shapes and styles in an honor to the U.S. army’s heritage but also incorporating contemporary flair.
According to an Authentic Apparel rep who spoke with Fashionista, the approval process that took seven to eight months was “extremely rigorous” and “every single one of the garments is green-lit by the U.S. Army to be sure they are up to standards.” And the best part is that proceeds from the merchandise will help aid the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Program, which helps provide relief and aid to the lived of soldiers, retirees and their families.
