It’s not exactly H&M or Target, but Oscar de la Renta has made an attempt at the being affordable with TheOutnet.com.
The e-commerce site owned by Compagnie Financière Richemont SA, has collaborated with the designer in the past with a 24-piece collection of day dresses, wide leg pants, blouses and shorts modeled by Olivia Palermo. For this new effort, they take the same approached with a different face, Miraslova Duma.
Duma, the online ambassador, is also the founder of Russian fashion new site Buro 24/7 and digital media director at Russian department store Tsum. She was tapped for her international presence and strong social media background, which will hopefully aid in promoting the effort.
This second go round, to hit e-stores Dec 17, will be a collection of 19 pieces ranging in price from $325 for a sleeveless lace tank to $1,095 for a floor-length, scoop-neck dress. “People collaborate with H&M — [and] we have tried to find a new way to do that,” Alex Bolen, chief executive officer of Oscar de la Renta told WWD. “That was what the initial experiment was about. It was a success from many perspectives.”
