It’s no secret of the impact that Yves Saint Laurent has on style and beauty. And now the Parisian fashion house will add to their skincare line with a product called Or Rouge (Red Gold in French), that the company is deeming as a “skin renaissance treatment.”

Or Rouge, contains saffron which is often called “red gold” because of its rarity. YSL went high in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco to obtain the spice, a place where Saint Laurent himself found inspiration. The result is a line of products that will work on fine lines, wrinkles, lack of firmness, dullness, and other signs of aging.

What makes Or Rouge so special is the unique glycan that’s found in red saffron, reports WWD. Glycan helps the skin regenerate but its presence in the skin diminishes with age; YSL’s team found the right combination of glycans for Or Rouge, which allows the product to stimulate skin renewal.

Prelaunching in mid-March at, Or Rouge will cost $420 for 50-ml. for the cream, $240 for 15-ml. of eye cream, and $150 for 200-ml. of lotion. The high price-point definitely makes this purchase a splurge, but the rare ingredients and the promise of younger-looking skin are definitely worth it. Our tip? See if you can get a sample from your beauty counter, that way you can test-drive the product before making the big commitment.
