The 16 Fashion Creatives On The Most Creative People In Business 1000

Style And Smarts For Days, Are These The 16 Most Creative People In Fashion?

People in the fashion industry are innately creative–it’s pretty much a given in the territory. From designers to business people to photographers to bloggers–an appreciation for interesting forms of beauty and style, and being able to hone in on the excitement of those traits in innovative ways can oftentimes make one creative stand out from the pack. And thanks to Fast Company’s Most Creative People In Business 1000 list, we can now consider the 16 fashion professionals featured on the list to be standing a bit further out from the crowd than before.

Fast Company is calling the list a “new resource that defines an influential, diverse group of modern Renaissance men and women across the economy and around the globe.” Aside from the obvious folks like Mark Zuckerberg, the list contains a far-reaching array of creatives. Entertainment industry staples like Jay Z and Jennifer Aniston hold places alongside tech industry stars like Google Glass creator Isabelle Olsson and the CEO and co-founder of Pinterest, Ben Silbermann.

But back to the fashion–we combed through all 1,000 names on the list to find some of your favorite fashion creatives. Most of the following group of names will not be new to you–they are all heralded as masters of their craft. But each person’s addition to this list elevates him or her to a new level of positive scrutiny–we should watch these 16 fashion insiders now more than ever because they are truly disrupting the industry, be it through design, innovation, business acumen, etc.

Need examples? Diane von Furstenberg changed the way women dress professionally in the 1970s and is still managing to keep us on our toes today–remarkable. Leandra Medine went from quirky blogger to internet sensation and book author, all thanks to some funny looking (and hilariously written) outfit posts–incredible. And how about Jenna Lyons’ work on turning up the cool factor 110 percent for J. Crew? Enviable.

So click through to see the fashion industry superstars that made it on the Most Creative People In Business 1000. After all, as Fast Company says, “These are the people behind the world-changing, inspiring and, yes, even whimsical, ideas that are moving business in new directions today.”

This list isn’t set at just 1,000. Over the coming months Fast Company will add (and possibly delete) names from the list as they see fit. Follow along on the Most Creative People In Business 1000 homepage and look out for #MCB1000 on social media.
