It’s no secret that Victoria Beckham puts on the most pristine of fashion presentations so when we got the opportunity to observe the backstage process we literally jumped at the chance. Victoria Beckham presented her A/W ’14 collection this past Sunday and we would be lying if we said the prep backstage was any less meticulous and perfect than the actual show itself. With countless beauty industry veterans at hand to take models through hair, makeup and nails, it goes without saying that all hands were on deck to ensure that each model was VB approved. Discover the scene backstage as we break down the steps to achieve luxe, easy tresses and beautifully bare nails.
To create effortlessly tousled pony’s Redken Creative Consultant Guido used two key products: the satinwear 02 prepping blow-dry lotion and the pillow proof blowdry two day extender. The result was easy, undone hair that screamed poised luxury. “I wanted the hair to be consistent with Victoria’s simple and modern collection,” Guido noted.
“The whole idea is to create that ultra rich and luxurious feeling, without doing much to the hair. The ultimate idea of luxury in the beauty industry has changed dramatically in the last few years. It used to be fantastic and grand, but that doesn’t really translate anymore, especially with younger designers like Victoria Beckham. It is all about the subtle details that make a big difference on the end result.”
Create the look at home with these simple backstage tips from Guido:
1. Apply satinwear 02 prepping blow-dry lotion to damp hair.
2. Create a messy center part.
3. Allow hair to dry naturally.
4. Wrap the hair around 2″ curling iron to create additional movement if necessary.
5. Spray pillow proof blowdry two day extender on mid-lengths and ends for added texture.
6. Pull hair back into a loose low ponytail and secure with a hair elastic.
For effortless, polished nails Vanessa Williams for Nails inc. used a custom pink based nude blend created specifically for Victoria Beckham. “It looks super pink in the bottle but comes out really sheer and it gives it just a natural, pink, healthy nail look. It’s custom blended but the closest to it, if you wanted to recreate the look is South Molton Street in the Nails inc. range. We’ve also added a matte top coat, the Westminster Bridge Matte top coat, to make the nails look naturally clean and healthy.”
Not too nude and not to pink, the shade imparted a natural pink hue to tips for a touch of femininity and ease, while the addition of a matte top coat finished the barely there look. To achieve the effect on your own Williams shares these 3 tips:
1. File nails for a smooth round finish.
2. Apply one coat of Nails inc. South Molton Street polish.
3. Finish with one coat of Nails inc.Westminster Bridge Matte effect top coat.
