Veteran actress Jessica Lange was thrust back into the media spotlight with her repeat scary-good performances in each season of “American Horror Story.” And now, she’s channeling her spooky elegance into fierce beauty looks in the first-ever campaign for Marc Jacobs Beauty, which was announced publicly on Twitter last night.
The Jessica Lange Marc Jacobs Beauty campaign was shot by David Sims, who recently also shot Miley Cyrus for Marc Jacobs and Rihanna’s Vogue cover, as well, and features an accompanying video of Lange reciting the lyrics to Judy Garland’s “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
Jacobs chose the 64-year-old Lange as his muse for this new campaign because he finds her almost “narcotic,” as he said to Dazed. “I love Jessica, I mean I think we all love Jessica.” (This is true.) She’s a testament to strong beauty throughout the aging process, and Jacobs casting her in this campaign makes a positive statement about ageism in an industry that seems, at times, too obsessed with youth.
Beauty is eternal, and Jessica Lange certainly helps prove that fact. We can’t wait to see the rest of the campaign as it unveils.
