Twitter Fan Asks For Oprah’s ‘Essence’ Dress, Oprah Says YES

In Oprah’s world, sometimes all you have to do is ask and you shall receive. That’s what happened when one fan on Twitter expressed adoration of the Brian Rennie for Basler gown that Oprah wore on the cover of February’s Essence alongside Forest Whitaker, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Michael B. Jordan.

Just a few weeks ago on Valentine’s Day, Twitter user @snobaby28 (Brandi) tweeted at Oprah, “you look beautiful in that essence cover pic. WOW. CAN I please have that dress? Cuz I know u won’t wear again lol luv u.” And lo and behold, Oprah responded in the affirmative! We don’t know if she was feeling the V-Day love or if it was just another typical day in the gregarious life of being Oprah, but she got back to Brandi tweeting, “you’re right I won’t wear ever again contact my asst. and show her this tweet.”

A few short weeks later, and Brandi received the dress, and she tweeted out that she plans on wearing it at her wedding–when she finds a groom. Social media really is amazing sometimes isn’t it? (#YouGetADress!!)

Considering the number of dresses that go unworn after just one use, it might not be such a strange ideas for celebrities or publications to gift them to fans. But don’t start tweeting requests at all the best-dressed celebs just yet. One does not a trend make! And we all know that Oprah is unusually generous.

In any case, Brandi is lucky and proves that being assertive and going after what you want definitely works in your favor. And look how happy and glam she looks in the dress! Congrats, Brandi.
