Even though March is about to be over, it still feels like it was only just January, with us in the throes of our European menswear show coverage. Fashion months, awards season, and hopefully the worst of this year’s cold weather have already zipped past us. As we’re coming up on the end of the first quarter, we’re reflecting back on one thing we noticed: Pharrell is making us all look lazy.
So far for 2014 it seems that the world has truly been Pharrell’s oyster. From stealing all of the airtime on the radio with his “Happy” hit, to all of the menswear red carpet chatter with his sartorial choices, we count down 10 things the artist has already accomplished in the first three months of 2014.
Here’s to 10 more!
1. Collaborated with Peace Love World on t-shirts.
In the latest tale of Pharrell taking over the world, the artist launched a collection of tees with Peace Love World on the International Day of Happiness, which was March 20. He’s the first celebrity to do a collaboration with the brand, and will be selling the shirts at Billionaire Boys Club as well as online.
2. Debuted Vivienne Westwood hat in Hollywood.
In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, Pharrell has been trotting around the globe with a steady trove of Vivienne Westwood bucket-like mountain hats on heavy rotation. Occasionally he allows them to walk the carpet alone like at the BRIT Awards and other times he lends his hat out to friends.
3. Debuted a limited-edition Uniqlo collaboration.
4. Made recyclable jeans with G-Star Raw.
5. Announced “Girl” Fragrance with Comme Des Garçons.
6. Released “Girl” album.
Pharrell released his second album “Girl” this month. The cover art featured the artist himself wearing Thom Browne aviators with three female models wearing his latest collaboration with Moncler Lunettes.
7. Advocated for good skin care.
8. Slid between the sheets for W.
9. Worn shorts to the Oscars.
10. Sold his hat to Arby’s for $44,000.
After racking up quite a bit of press for its appearances, one of Pharrell’s hats found itself in the presence of its “rightful” owner for a smooth $44,100. With proceeds going to charity, Arby’s snapped up the piece in an eBay auction.
