He may have stepped down from Louis Vuitton, but that doesn’t mean Marc Jacobs couldn’t transition with a bang. Focusing on his own labels these days, the designer had the most expensive dress on the runways for Fall 2014.
According to New York Magazine, his “Mariah” blush colored dress took three people, one week to create.
Each flower motif is made of organza and hand-stuffed with three meters of yarn. Jacobs’s design studio, which commissioned the fabric, paid €8,000 a meter…The dress will be lent out on a limited basis to celebrities and magazines, and then, at the end of the season, it will be retired to the archives. If you want it for yourself, it can be custom made for $28,000. But somehow we don’t think this will be flying off shelves.
