Fashion’s elite will have to trek their six inch heels over to Brooklyn for the Christian Dior 2015 Cruise show on May 7. The design house made the announcement earlier this week.

The exact location of the show will be the Brooklyn Navy Yard, that was built in the early 1800s. “We wanted the show to feel very New York, and the Navy Yard’s view and space captures the city,” a spokeswoman for Dior told WWD.

Naturally, people are comparing the decision to Alexander Wang’s Fall 2014 show in NYC’s biggest borough. The conversation, like it was months back, is on the potential of Brooklyn to be fashion’s new hub. While many are saying it’s unlikely, Wang and Dior, both well respected brands, certainly leave the topic on the table.

And if you were wondering how attendees will get to the show (you know, other than using public transportation that 4.3 million New Yorkers use each day), Dior is taking care of that. The French fashion house will provide round-trip, door-to-door car and ferry service. According to WWD, cars will drop off at the ferry docks at 34th Street and the FDR Drive, and boats will shuttle guests to the venue’s front door; and vice versa postshow. Specific transportation instructions will accompany invitations to the show.

Yea, BK may be where it’s at.
