Wet Seal Inc. has announced that by the end of its 2015 fiscal year it will close all its Arden B doors. According to the Wall Street Journal, the “winding down” process is expected to be completed by the start of the back-to-school season in late July. During the transition process, the company– which currently owns 54 mall-based Arden B stores– will turn 31 Arden B stores into Wet Seal Plus merchandise, while the remaining 23 locations will carry regular Wet Seal merchandise.
The move on Wet Seal Inc’s part is to capitalize on an underserved market. “This was a difficult decision that followed a comprehensive review of the business and market dynamics,” Chief Executive John Goodman told WSJ. “Our transition strategy for Arden B accelerates our opportunity to expand in the growing juniors plus market.”
