Christian Louboutin has been designing extraordinary footwear for more than 20 years. Spike heels, studded platforms, and rainbow bright colors, are just a handful of the edgy elements the Parisian shoemaker infuses into his extravagant designs. Women stateside and across the pond go gaga for his infectious red bottoms. And come spring, men will be able to partake in the Louboutin hoopla, women have been married to for the past decade.
According to WWD, a 1,031-square-foot Christian Louboutin men’s store will be opening in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, located on Washington Street, between Horatio and Gansevoort, just around the corner from his women’s shop.
“The men’s shoes only represent a small portion of the business at present but we think it has huge potential for the future,” said Alexis Mourot, the company’s chief operating officer. “We are very happy to have found a location in New York, especially one so close to our current downtown women’s boutique. This store opening in New York is an important step for Christian and for the company.”
A few years ago, Christian Louboutin began making shoes for himself and close friends, eventually adding men’s footwear to his women’s boutiques. But when the demand became too large for the women’s stores to manage, Louboutin decided to set up shop (solely for men) on Rue Jean Jacques Rousseau in Paris.
NYC’s new Louboutin location will be the second freestanding men’s shop in the world. Ladies, be sure to inform your men! A fresh pair of Loubs definitely does an outfit good.
