Heads of state and CEOs are the types of people you expect to see on a list of the world’s most powerful women, but as the media landscape evolves, so, too, does the power and relevance of women in other types of spotlights. This year, some of our favorite fashion designers and celebrities make up 10 percent of Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women list–that means 10 spots out of the 100 went out to these nontraditional, yet equally powerful, women of stature.
We’ll give you one guess as to which reigning celebrity queen made it highest on the list? That’s right–Beyoncé. Coming in at number 17, she was by far the most powerful famous face on the list–aside from Oprah, that is, who beat Beyoncé by three spots to come in at number 14.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel was named the number one most powerful woman in the world. To see which fashion designers and celebrities are backing her up as international power houses, click through for the roundup.
