On Sunday Adewale Ogunleye, a Nigerian-American entrepreneur and former Miami Dolphin, married Dr. Amira Baker. The couple, who live in South Florida, got married in Washington, D.C. at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.

The couple, who wanted to mix American and African traditions, got married in the traditional white dress and black suit but donned clothing native to West Africa for the reception. Guests were asked to wear black tie, which was a treat because so many of them were celebrities.

Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade, Rocsi Diaz, Michelle Williams, Amar’e Stoudermire and his wife Alexis flew in to witness the nuptials– and they all looked fantastic.

But it got us thinking, what do you wear to an African wedding?

The initial thought may be that an evening LBD would work– keep it safe and classy. And while that is totally acceptable, the great thing about an African-American wedding is that you can explore a range of prints and cuts that fit in perfectly with the other guests.

Especially for summer, the following looks are perfect for an African wedding .
