H&M has upped the celeb profile for their latest designer collaboration with Marni. They’ve recruited Hollywood auteur du jour Sofia Coppola to direct the commercial for the capsule collection’s launch. Coppola, who is known for her ethereal dream-state cinema style, directed The Virgin Suicides, Marie Antoinette and Lost in Translation, just to name few.
She was excited to pick up this mini movie project for the fast fashion retailer, as fashion is something that she knows quite well. Coppola designed a capsule collection with Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton back in 2011, yet she admits that mixing fashion with film is somewhat new for her.
Set in Morocco, the clip gives us a better look at the collaboration. And we spied with our little eye loads of printed shift dresses, chunky structural jewelry, and a halter day dress that mixes polka dots and Dutch-African inspired prints. Set for release on March 8th, the collection will be available at select H&M stores and is certain to cause some shopping hysteria everywhere.
