While there are a slew of fashion collaborations headed to stores this fall it seems that one is just the start of something new. November 26 brings us the Prabal Gurung for MAC collection and if Gurung has his way, it will be only the beginning of his beauty business.
Prabal and MAC have been working on the impending collection for two years according to reports and the collection will line up with the read-to-wear range the designer is showing in September. In fact, those at his show — yes, we have our fingers crossed — will get a preview of the products in their gift bags. Of the products they might can expect: bronzing powder, eye shadow duos and lipstick which will all be in the collection. Prices range from $20(kohl eye pencil) to $70(bronzing powder), which is a bit expensive for MAC but for hardcore Prabal fans, may seem like a steal.
For inspiration, Gurung said he thought back to products on his mother’s vanity that he saw when growing up. That turned itself into packaging inspired by the 1920s that brought just as much beauty to the surroundings as the actual products.
Gurung has gone on to say that he hopes that this is only a testing ground for a future beauty business for his brand. Hopefully, one day we’ll see the Gurung name on fragrances and color cosmetics but for now it starts with a $30 lipstick.
Will you be rushing into stores to snap up the collection?
