NYFW F/W 2012: Marc Jacobs Show Review (Cold Weather Clothes for the Kooky)

After closely observing the Marc Jacobs collections season after season, we’ve figured out that the best way to understand the intricate looks he sends down the runway is to dissect them. Chop them down into itty bitty pieces and identify their singular components.

For his fall/winter collection, Jacobs sent out off-kilter looks of ladies piled high with layers and double-wide fur hats. And we couldn’t help but feel that editor, and well-known fashionista-about-town, Anna Piaggi was somewhere on the inspiration board for this collection.

Kookiness aside, we picked out the key-pieces that will likely trickle down to the actual line that will hit Marc Jacobs’ shop racks in a few months.  The presence of fur is overly abundant, so we’re likely to spot a floppy-brimmed fur hat in a easier to handle size.  Embellished outerwear with detachable layers are another trend that might take hold.  And all of the gorgeous, ornate brocade fabrics will defintely be reincarnated into hippy dresses and sensible suiting.

Check out all of the quirky looks below.
